Greetings from SAMBAT Finance!
2020 is finally coming to end and undeniably, it will forever be remembered in the history of mankind as the year the world was brought to its knees. Globally, the coronavirus has taken many lives and we practically see the livelihoods of every man on the street, micro- small and medium businesses being devastated overnight. In our borderless world today, it is certainly beyond anyone’s wildest imagination that border closures and movement restrictions can be imposed with such haste and resolute by the governments. Unprecedented massive fiscal and monetary measures were also implemented by the governments to save their country’s fragile economy impacted by coronavirus from further economic consequences.
From a social-economic perspective, Cambodia has been relatively spared with less than 1,000 cases and no casualty but nevertheless, the pandemic has certainly impacted the economy and shuttered many businesses which led to many workers being unemployed. Even with the coronavirus vaccine now in sight, the social-economic cost is yet unknown and may continue to rise for many years to come.
At SAMBAT Finance, we acknowledge the challenging times and hardship faced by the Khmer people and it is our civic duty to aid the Cambodian Government’s initiatives to accelerate the country’s economic recovery from the pandemic. We are in fact proud of being one of the 1st microfinance institutions to offer loan reliefs to our all customers affected by the pandemic back in April 2020. Looking forward to year 2021, we will be introducing our state-of-the-art digital platform which is transparent and efficient and most importantly, being accessible by all Khmer people as our goal is to ensure that everyone has equal opportunity to realize their dreams and contribute to the growth of the nation.
As we welcome the New Year 2021, we pray for peace and harmony as we all unite as a nation to overcome these challenging times. We hope that the New Year will bring a speedy recovery of our nation’s economy and be blessed with many great years to come.
